SEIU Local 888 has a new retiree chapter: SEIU Local 888 Union Forever

All members who retire from Local 888 union positions are encouraged to become a member of the new retiree chapter. Becoming a member gives you:

  • Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) is a law that changes the way your U.S. Social Security benefits are calculated. WEP can reduce your U.S. retirement or disability benefits if you receive a pension based on work and you did not pay U.S. Social Security taxes on those earnings. Local 888 and many other unions support passing a bill in Congress, HR 4540, “the Public Servants Protection and Fairness Act” that would  provide meaningful relief to current WEP retirees and fixes the WEP formula for future retirees.
