The last time that Local 888 held its annual UMass Lowell Hockey Night was in December 2019. In a signal that the pandemic is winding down, this year it’s game on, once again!
“The hockey night has been a wonderful annual event,” said Local 888 President Tom McKeever. “I’m looking forward to restarting the tradition and urge our members to attend.”
Local 888 will host a game night on Friday, Dec. 3. The event will kick off at 6:15 p.m. with a reception serving light snacks at the Tsongas Center’s Club Room at 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Lowell. The game will begin at 7:15 p.m.
The event offers an opportunity for meeting other Local 888 members and leadership, including McKeever. The UMass Lowell River Hawks team — which ranks in the top 20 for Division 1 men’s hockey teams nationally — will play the UMass Amherst Minutemen.
Tickets to the game are free for members and their immediate family (limited to four per member). Tickets are digital and will be emailed on Dec. 1. Sign up by Nov. 28. To reserve tickets, sign in at the Member Portal part of the Local 888 website, www.seiu888.org/mp.
Local 888’s UMass Lowell chapter is asking for donations to help with the UMass Lowell Food Pantry that helps both students and employees facing food insecurity. Please bring nonperishable donations to the Club Room. Or donate online at www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1Y0VI18GQBIEV?ref_=wl_share.
