After a nearly two year-long campaign, a group of aircraft technicians who maintain the state's police helicopters will finally get reclassified from "Aeronautical Inspector" to "Aircraft Maintenance Technician."
The reclassification moves the techs from Grade 22 to Grade 26 on the state salary charts. Pay will be retroactive to July 1, 2013. "The big gain will be in our retirement," said Louis Williams, one of the newly classified maintenance technicians who has been with the state for two years.
"This is my first time in a union job and I can really see the advantages. Without the help from Local 888's legal team and strong support from state troopers this never would have happened."
