Clerical employees work 35 hours, Custodians work 40 hours….put it in writing. When you can’t get money get time off…add an extra five days of vacation. When hours are cut, concentrate on getting the part timers in the union. Lower the hours of work for part time employees in the recognition clause; negotiate personal time, sick time and vacation time on a pro-rated basis; include them in holiday pay if they work the day of the holiday; get them overtime for all hours worked in excess of their regularly scheduled hours. Remember to include “Working Out of Grade” when you are assigned to a higher-grade position AND when you work as a department head. That’s what members did in the Town of Carver! Congratulations to Lynn Doyle, Paula Nute and Donna LaBarnes! They did a great job “putting it in writing.”
